  5. FRED is a FRee full screen EDitor with the following major features:

  7. * SPEED: you can scroll through a file at typamatic speeds.
  8.  
  9. * RELIABILITY:  It is reliable:  you can even remove disks while they
  10.   are being read or written without aborting FRED or loosing data.
  11.   Neither filling memory nor filling a disk causes loss of data.
  12.  
  13. * FULL SCREEN:  You can move the cursor about the screen changing,
  14.   inserting, or deleting what you see; scroll and change more then
  15.   SAVE it on disk.  Scrolling is up and down by page or by line and
  16.   left to right by column or 1/2 screen.

  18. * FILE SIZE: It allows files up to 1500 lines or 50K of data.
  19.  
  20. * LINE FUNCTIONS:  FRED supports line insert, delete, copy, move,
  21.   split, join, and searching for strings.  Lines can be cleared from
  22.   cursor to end or from front to end.  Single lines inadvertantly
  23.   changed can be 'undone'.

  25. * CURSOR POSITIONING:  You can move the cursor up, down, left, right,
  26.   to top or bottom of screen or file, left or right 40, or to front or
  27.   end of the line.
